Scan paper documents with your phone or webcam: automatic cropping, straightening and clean-up, then save as a PDF.
JPG, PNG, WebP or HEIC. Pages are cropped and straightened automatically.
Processed in your browser — files never leave your device. How it works
You don't need a flatbed scanner, or even an app, to turn paper into a clean PDF. PDFDoco's Scan to PDF uses the camera on your phone or laptop right in the browser: point it at a page and it finds the edges, straightens the perspective, removes shadows and saves everything as one PDF. Unlike most online scanners, nothing is uploaded — your contracts, IDs and receipts stay on your device.
Use your phone's camera or a webcam, or upload photos you already took. Add as many pages as you like.
The page is found automatically and straightened. Drag the corners if you want to adjust the crop.
Enhanced removes shadows and whitens the paper; Black & White makes crisp, tiny files. Rotate, reorder or delete pages.
Choose A4, Letter or fit-to-image, a compression level and optional OCR, then save the PDF to your device.
Finds the page's four corners, corrects the perspective and restores the page's true proportions, even when shot at an angle.
Optional OCR adds an invisible text layer in 28 languages, so you can search and copy the text of your scan.
Camera images are processed in your browser and never uploaded. No app to install and no account needed.
A photo of a document has angled edges, uneven lighting and a gray or yellow cast. PDFDoco fixes all three. It detects the page's four corners and warps them into a true rectangle, working out the page's real proportions from the camera angle so an A4 sheet doesn't come out stretched. Then it estimates the colour of the paper across the page and divides it out, which removes shadows (including the one from your phone) and leaves clean white paper.
If the detection isn't perfect, drag the corner handles. They're made for fingers, with a magnifier that shows the exact corner under your thumb.
Turn on OCR to make the scan's words findable. PDFDoco reads the page with the open-source Tesseract engine running in your browser, then places the recognised text as an invisible layer exactly over the words on the page. You can press Ctrl+F to search, select and copy text, and document systems can index it. It supports 28 languages, including Arabic, Chinese, Hindi and Russian. Accuracy depends on the photo, so good light and the Black & White or Enhanced filter help a lot.
Receipts and invoices for expense reports, signed contracts that need to go back by email, school assignments and handwritten notes, ID documents and proof of address, medical forms and insurance papers. For anything sensitive, processing on your own device means there's no copy on someone else's server to worry about.
Keep capturing and every shot becomes the next page. The thumbnail strip lets you drag pages into the right order, retake a blurry one without starting again, rotate or delete pages, and apply a filter to all of them at once. Choose A4 or Letter to get a standard printable PDF, or Fit image to make each page exactly the shape of your scan.
Scan to PDF works with whatever you have: the rear camera on a phone, a laptop webcam or a document camera, or photos already on your device. If your browser can't use the camera, or you'd rather not grant permission, upload photos instead and you'll get the same automatic cropping, straightening and filters.
Pro tip: for text-only pages, Black & White with Balanced compression gives a sharp, print-ready PDF that is usually small enough to email, even with many pages.
Open this page in your phone's browser, tap Scan with camera and allow camera access. Hold the phone above the page; the outline appears when the page is found. Tap the shutter for each page, tap Done, then download your PDF. It works in Chrome, Safari, Edge and Firefox, with nothing to install.
No. The camera image and every processing step stay inside your browser, on your device. If you turn on OCR, the recognition engine and language data are downloaded once from a public CDN so they can run locally, but your images are never sent anywhere.
Browsers need your permission before a page can use the camera. If you blocked it by accident, open your browser's site settings (the icon next to the address), allow the camera for this site and try again. If you'd rather not, you can always upload photos instead — the result is the same.
Put the page on a dark or contrasting surface, use even daylight or the torch, and hold the phone directly above the page. Use the Enhanced filter for documents with colour and Black & White for plain text. Compression High keeps 300 DPI detail for printing.
Yes. Turn on OCR and choose the document's language before creating the PDF. PDFDoco recognises the text in your browser and adds it as an invisible layer exactly over the words, so you can search, select and copy them, while the page still looks like your scan.
Enhanced removes shadows and evens out the lighting while keeping colour, ideal for forms, receipts and stamped documents. Grayscale does the same in shades of gray. Black & White turns every pixel pure black or white with a threshold that adapts across the page, which gives the sharpest text and by far the smallest files. Original keeps the colours as photographed.
As many as your device's memory allows; dozens of pages work fine on most phones, because full-size images are only processed one at a time when the PDF is made. Reorder pages by dragging their thumbnails, and retake or delete any page before you download.
