Turn PDFs into editable Word documents with real paragraphs, tables and images, and text recognition for scanned pages.
This conversion runs on a secure server, not in your browser.
These formats need conversion engines that can't run in a browser, so your file is sent over an encrypted connection to our conversion partner CloudConvert (ISO 27001 certified, GDPR compliant, servers in Germany, EU). It is converted, then deleted right after your download, and automatically within 24 hours at the latest. PDFDoco itself never stores your file. How we handle files
PDF · up to 50 MB each, 10 files at a time.

PDFs are made for reading, not editing. When you need to update an old contract, reuse a report, fix a CV you only have as a PDF, or quote large parts of a document, retyping it takes hours. Converting the PDF to Word gives you a DOCX you can edit like any other document.
Many converters produce a Word file made of floating text boxes, one per line, which falls apart as soon as you type. PDFDoco uses a professional PDF conversion engine (Apryse) that rebuilds real paragraphs, headings, lists, tables with cells, and images, so the text reflows when you edit it. Scanned pages are run through OCR (text recognition), so they become editable text too. Convert up to 10 PDFs at once, or only the pages you need.
Drop one or more PDF files, up to 50 MB each. Scanned PDFs work too.
Editable text (reflowing paragraphs) or an exact visual copy of each page.
Convert the whole document or a range such as 1-3,7.
Open it in Word, Google Docs, LibreOffice or Pages and start editing.
Text flows as paragraphs, so lines rewrap when you add or delete words.
PDF tables become Word tables with rows and cells, not loose text.
Text in scans and images is recognised and becomes editable text.
Editable text (recommended) rebuilds the document as flowing paragraphs. Words split by a hyphen at the end of a line are joined again, so editing feels like working in a normal Word file. The look stays very close to the PDF, but complex layouts such as magazines can shift a little as text reflows.
Exact layout puts every element exactly where it is on the PDF page. Choose it for forms, brochures and designed one-pagers that must look identical. Small text edits are fine, but larger changes are harder because the text doesn't reflow.
A scanned page is a photo of text. With Recognise text in scans (OCR) turned on (the default), the text in scans and images is recognised and becomes real, editable text in the Word file. Recognition works best on straight, sharp scans of printed text. If a scan is tilted, straighten it first with Deskew PDF. Turn OCR off to keep images exactly as they are.
Need one chapter from a 300-page report? Type a page range like 12-30 or 1,4,9-11 in the Pages box. You get a smaller, cleaner Word file and a faster conversion. Only need the text without layout? Try PDF to Text, which runs in your browser.
If a PDF needs a password to open, the tool asks you for it and converts the file with it. The password is used only for that conversion. You can also remove the password first with Unlock PDF.
Rebuilding Word documents from PDFs needs a professional conversion engine that can't run in a browser. So unlike most PDFDoco tools, your file is sent over an encrypted connection to our conversion partner CloudConvert (ISO 27001 certified, GDPR compliant, servers in Germany). It is deleted right after your download, and within 24 hours at the latest. PDFDoco never stores your files. See our Security page.
Pro tip: after editing, turn your document back into a PDF with Word to PDF. Your fonts and layout are kept.

Yes, up to 10 PDFs of up to 50 MB each. Each becomes a Word file with the same name, and they download together as a ZIP.
If the PDF needs a password to open, you'll be asked for it and the file is converted again with it. PDFs that only restrict editing or copying usually convert without a password.
