How to Extract Pages from a PDF and Save Them as a New File

Save just the pages you need from a PDF as a new file — by clicking page thumbnails or typing page ranges like 1-3, 7. Free, in your browser.

Quick answer

  • Extract PDF lets you click the page thumbnails you want; Split PDF lets you type ranges like 1-3, 7.
  • Either way you get a new PDF with only those pages — your original isn't changed.
  • To remove a few pages and keep the rest, Delete PDF Pages is quicker.

Often you only need part of a PDF: one chapter of a textbook, the signature page of a contract, or the two pages of a long statement that a form actually asks for. Sending only those pages is faster, keeps the file small, and avoids sharing information that isn't needed.

Extract pages by number

If you already know the page numbers — from a table of contents, for example — typing them is quicker:

  1. 1

    Open Split PDF

Go to Split PDF and add your file. It shows how many pages the document has.

  2. 2

    Type the pages

Use commas between pages and a dash for ranges. 1-3, 7 gives you pages 1, 2, 3 and 7.

  3. 3

    Extract and download

Click Extract & Download. PDFDoco creates a new PDF with exactly those pages.

Tip: Want each part as its own file — say, chapters 1 and 2 separately? Run Split PDF once per part, for example 1-20 and then 21-45.

Common uses

  • Job and visa applications: upload only the pages of a certificate or statement they ask for.
  • Contracts: send just the signature page back after signing.
  • Study: save one chapter of a long PDF to read on your phone.
  • Invoices and receipts: pull single receipts out of a monthly statement for an expense claim.

Need the extracted pages in a different order, or combined with another file? Use Organize PDF or Merge PDF next.

Frequently asked questions

Does extracting pages change my original PDF?

No. PDFDoco creates a new file with the pages you chose. Your original stays exactly as it was.

Can I extract pages that aren't next to each other?

Yes. Click any pages in Extract PDF Pages, or type them in Split PDF separated by commas, for example 2, 5, 9-11.

Will the extracted pages lose quality?

No. Pages are copied as they are, so text stays selectable and images keep their original quality.

Can I do this on my phone?

Yes. Both tools work in mobile browsers, and your file is processed on your device without being uploaded.
