How to Turn Photos into a PDF on Your Phone
Turn photos of documents, receipts or homework into a single PDF on iPhone or Android. Free, in your browser, with tips for sharp, small files.
Quick answer
- Take photos in good light, straight above the page, then convert them with JPG to PDF in your browser.
- Choose A4 for documents you'll print or upload to forms; choose Fit to Image for photos.
- iPhone photos saved as HEIC may need converting — set Camera to Most Compatible to save JPGs.
Receipts for an expense claim, a signed form, homework pages, a photo of an ID card — many places only accept PDFs. If you've only got photos on your phone, you can turn them into one tidy PDF in about a minute, straight from your browser.
Step 1: Take photos that make a good PDF
- Use daylight or a bright room and switch the flash off — flash causes glare on paper.
- Hold the phone straight above the page, not at an angle, so the text isn't distorted.
- Fill the frame with the document and crop out the table around it.
- Take one photo per page, in the order you want them in the PDF.

Convert photos to PDFiPhone tip: HEIC photos
By default, iPhones save photos in a space-saving format called HEIC. If a photo won't add, it's probably HEIC. To save new photos as JPG instead, open Settings → Camera → Formats and choose Most Compatible.
Make the PDF smaller before sending
Modern phone cameras take large photos — 3 to 5 MB each — and the PDF keeps their full quality. If the PDF is for email or an upload form with a size limit, run it through Compress PDF afterwards. Our guide to getting a PDF under 1 MB explains how to reach strict limits.
Other things you can do next
- Add another document to it with Merge PDF.
- Number the pages with Add Page Numbers.
- Protect it before sharing with Protect PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Can I convert several photos into one PDF?
Yes. Select all the photos at once in JPG to PDF. Each photo becomes one page, in the order you arrange them.
Does converting photos to PDF reduce quality?
No. PDFDoco places your images into the PDF as they are, without re-compressing them, so the PDF looks exactly like your photos. Compress it separately if you need a smaller file.
What image formats are supported?
JPG and PNG. For iPhone HEIC photos, switch the camera to Most Compatible to save new photos as JPG.
Do I need an app to make a PDF from photos?
No. PDFDoco works in Safari, Chrome and other mobile browsers, and your photos are processed on your phone.
